“The Village is Growing” is a body of work by Cain made while he was an Artist in Residence at The Wellsville Creative Arts Center in Wellsville, NY. Cain engages with themes of societal expansion, both on a personal and collective level, encouraging viewers to reflect on the ways in which communities evolve, adapt, and grow over time. This show reflects Cain’s ongoing interest in connecting the material world with emotional, psychological, and social dynamics, presenting a unique narrative of interconnectedness and change. The characters that shine in this body of work are based on those he’s come in contact while residing in western New York, each full of personality and their own story. This work is accompanied by workshops in fiber and clay as part of his residency.
